What is the Association of Independent Authors?

The Association of Independent Authors (AiA) is a non-profit organization of professional (independent) writers. Our membership spans five continents, with Directors based in the USA, Asia, Australia, and South Africa.

In 2008, for the first time in history, more books were self-published than those published traditionally. In 2009, 76% of all books released were self-published, while publishing houses reduced the number of books they produced. This growth will continue, enabled as it has been by advancing technologies and a new way of thinking about an old subject, hence the change of phrase from "self-published" to "independent author".

There are a number of forums and social networks for writers,but none, until now,that are focused specifically on the issues facing independent authors. Independent authors are also businesspeople—authorpreneurs, who need to understand all aspects of the publishing process, as well as the essentials of writing.

Our vision is that independent publishing will be the preferred, first choice, for all authors.

Our mission is to create a culture of excellence, teamwork and professionalism ina community environment where sharing and collaboration benefits each individual member and independent authors as a whole.

How do I get my company listed in the Authors Resource Guide?

Getting listed in the guide is simple. Just fill out your information on the create a listing page and your listing will be placed in pending status.
